“Dementia is currently the 7th leading cause of death of all diseases and one of the leading causes of disability and dependence on older people worldwide.” However, on a more positive note, “it is now known what we can do to prevent about 40% of dementias, or at least delay them, which is through adopting strategies appropriate to each modifiable risk factor throughout life.”

Alzheimer Portugal have created a wonderful free event to mark this date, specifically for the English speaking community. The event titled “Let’s talk about Dementia” will take place on the 21st of September with a lecture on Dementia followed by a meet and greet from 4pm until 5pm at the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium in Lagoa. The event will also have light refreshments and Alzheimer Portugal welcomes your attendance.
