The initiative of the "Lavrar o mar" project
includes a total of 21 walks this year, 11 of which will take place next
Sunday, in the mountainous municipality of Monchique, and the others on 2
October, in the municipality of Aljezur, on the Vicentine Coast.
"Given the great adhesion of the previous editions, we
increased the number of walks this year to 21, where we believe we will receive
around 300 people", explained Giacomo Scalisi, organizer and coordinator
of the project to Lusa.
According to the organiser, during the two days of the
event, participants are expected from several parts of the country, with
registration taking place until 9am each Sunday, that is one hour before the
start of the walks.
Each walk will have a guest speaker who will share "his
professional knowledge and his life experience", with a group of 15
walkers, on paths between five and eight kilometres long.
"The guest speakers are people linked to various areas,
including astrophysics, anthropology, tourism, culture and journalism, who have
in common a dedication to the work they do and who will get the participants to
think about these issues in our society," pointed out Giacomo Scalisi.
According to the organiser, the aim is that "it will
allow for reflection on the great current issues of the world today, in a
natural environment".
“Lavrar o mar" is an artistic project created in 2016
and integrated in the cultural programming in low season in the territories of
Monchique and Aljezur, in the district of Faro.
The cultural initiatives are funded by the
Directorate-General for Arts, CRESCAlgarve 2020 programme and the Algarve
municipalities of Aljezur and Monchique.
