According to Notícias ao Minuto, the Board of Directors of Centro Hospitalar Barreiro Montijo "regrets what happened" and informs that it will open an inquiry "with a view to ascertaining the facts and possible responsibilities".

The same source also indicates that, "in safeguarding the right to reserve the privacy of private life of all patients, the Centro Hospitalar Barreiro Montijo is prevented from publicly pronouncing on the health care provided", but confirms that "the mother and the newborn are in good health".

It should be noted that, according to Correio da Manhã, the newspaper that first broke the news, the birth had the help of the newborn's father and sister-in-law.

It was only after the birth that both were transported to the interior of the hospital, despite the fact that the obstetric emergency room and the delivery block were working.

To the publication, the family revealed that, even after the baby was born, mother and baby waited "more than half an hour to receive assistance, so they intend to file a complaint in court".

To Notícias ao Minuto, the Board of Directors of Centro Hospitalar Barreiro Montijo confirmed that "the CHBM's Obstetrics and Gynecology Emergency was (and is) operating without constraints, with the necessary professionals to ensure the provision of health care".
