According to the Association of Hotels and Tourist Enterprises of the Algarve (AHETA), the value achieved in October was 2.3 percentage points below that obtained in October 2019, before tourist activity was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The tourist markets that contributed most to the year-on-year rise achieved last month were Germany (plus 1.7 percentage points), Ireland (plus 0.6 percentage points) and North America (plus 0.5 percentage points), noted AHETA in a statement.
As for geographic areas, the main increases were recorded in Monte Gordo/Vila Real de Santo António, where growth was 13.7 percentage points, in Carvoeiro/Armação de Pera, with a rise of 12.6 percentage points, and in Tavira, with 0.8 percentage points more in occupation, compared to July 2022, said the Algarve business association.
AHETA indicated that “the average stay was 4.5 nights” and had an increase of 0.6 percentage points compared to the record achieved in October 2022.
“The longest average stays were those in the Danish market, with 7.1 nights and in the Dutch market, with 6.5”, the hotel association also noted.
