Then those intrepid 51, boarded the little ferry, assisted by local residents helping on the day, across the river to Spain, traveled a bumpy track, and hiked the final trek to the launch tower of the Limitezero zip wire.

Many of those taking part, have a fear of heights and were facing their demons.

In groups of 8, we all one by one descended back to our beloved Portugal, across the river to be greeted by the Bombeiros of Alcoutim.

The day was a huge success and everyone enjoyed it and the final topping on the cake was collectively we raised just over €9000 for Associação Alerta de Incêndio.

An amazing achievement.

The money is being used to help keep our volunteer Bombeiros supplied with extra essentials including water and energy bars, during the summer months of fire season.
