According to a statement sent to newsrooms by the coordinator of the Northern Road and Urban Transport Workers' Union (STRUN), José Manuel Silva, next Monday there will be "another strike for all STCP workers, for the whole day".
In practice, this is the combination of two partial strikes into one: since November 2023, a partial strike has been taking place during the last two hours of work, and in September, after the last 50-hour strike, another partial strike came into effect, during the first five hours of work.
"In the morning, workers will gather in front of the Via Norte collection station", and the general secretary of the General Confederation of Portuguese Workers - National Intersindical (CGTP-IN), Tiago Oliveira, is expected to be present.
In the afternoon, at 2:30 pm, "workers will demonstrate in front of the company's offices in Torre das Antas", in Porto.
The demands are for salary increases and the review of the functional framework of the Professional Development System (SEP) and maintenance of the company agreement regarding justified absences, sole agent and sickness assistance.
In a statement, STRUN also states that, as announced in the last strike on September 16, "it has already sent a criminal complaint to the DIAP [Department of Investigation and Criminal Prosecution] for disobedience against the two administrators who signed the document demanding that workers comply with the minimum services that were implemented in November" and "threatens them with disciplinary proceedings".
"A complaint was also filed against the same people with the ACT [Working Conditions Authority], for pressuring workers, abusing minimum services and preventing workers from starting work after a short strike period, forcing them to work five hours", it points out.
Lusa contacted STCP and is awaiting a response.
