Son of immigrants from Mira de Aire, Democrat Rick Lopes became the only Portuguese-American senator in the state of Connecticut in January 2021, having been re-elected on November 5th.
Rick Lopes left a warning to the undocumented Portuguese: "My message is that you should be worried, because [Trump] is someone who doesn't care about you. Despite what he says, he doesn't care about the people who come to this country to make it strong."
Donald Trump, who was elected the 47th American President at the beginning of the month, had as one of his biggest campaign slogans the promise to carry out the “largest mass deportation in history” of illegal immigrants, whom he accused of "blood poisoning" the United States.
There are about 11 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S., according to Department of Homeland Security estimates for 2022, the most recent year with data available — although Trump has claimed, without evidence, that the real number is about twice that.
Despite the apparent contradiction, many undocumented Portuguese immigrants support Donald Trump and believe that they will not be covered by the Republican tycoon's deportation plans.
"They think they are the good immigrants, not the bad immigrants. What they don't understand is that they are going to be seen like any immigrant. The Trump Administration doesn't care if you are good or bad, it doesn't care if you work hard or no. He will simply label you as undocumented immigrants and go after you", defended Lopes.
If they are undocumented, why is that? It means they are illegal. And there is evidence to support President Trump's claim of 20 million illegals. Don't believe the lying MSM or a Democrat with TDS. MAGA!

Follow immigration laws, do it legally and this will not be a problem.

They just don't listen; it's true. Trump says out loud everything he is going to do and that includes deporting ALL illegal immigrants. Actually it would be the best thing for them to return to Portugal as it will not be the America they dreamed of. Dont try to hide for another four years because you need to listen to what he says "I never should have left the white house" and "dont worry, when you elect me there will never be another election." He's a dictator that is going to dismantle the constitution and government and dictators either dont have or FIX the election in their favor. I got out in 22 when I saw how the "big lie" was progressing and love the Portuguese people and customs. They have a "convicted felon" in the white house! Many people that got convicted for Marijuana are considered felons in the US and CAN'T even vote!. And forget about assistance with climate disruption but cozy to Putin who Germany announced today has 4X the amount of weapons than the entire EU. Trump Americans, wait til you start reaping the consequences
of your vote!!! You thought you had a good economy under him when if fact he was riding the Obama recovery from "the bailout." Republicans as Trump and Bush did always leave a tattered economy for Democrats to rebuilt as history documents but like immigrints that think they're immune, they're just not well educated on the facts. Come home, now you'll be happier in Portugal.

Friendly fire is killing your own soldiers. Undocumented workers are illegal aliens. Of course they have documents. Their documents are proof that they are breaking the law. The American people have spoken. They want to put law abiding citizens first.

It seems that everyone forgets to remember that the USA was founded on immigration. It provided a blank canvas for those hard working people who upped roots and went to find the dream. Nowadays, everyone must have the correct docs to guarantee their right to live in a different country of their birth. This is the correct way, no matter if you work hard and contribute greatly to your new homeland. The next 4 years will either succeed or fail miserably in the States and the rest of the world will feel the consequences. Many have tried, very few have succeed. Let's hope all goes to plan.

"It seems that everyone forgets to remember that the USA was founded on immigration."
The country then created laws that defined how to immigrate lawfully.
For those that chose to come to the US unlawfully there should be no consequences?
