“A new chapter begins today for Lufthansa Technik: for the first time in the company's history, we are building and opening our own location in Portugal”, said operational administrator, Harald Gloy, in a statement.

The company, which belongs to the German airline Lufthansa, did not disclose the value of the investment, but detailed that it recently acquired the 230,000 square meter property in the Lusopark business park, in Santa Maria da Feira, where it intends to begin construction in 2026.

This industrial unit will create more than 700 jobs “for which interested parties will be able to apply next year”, said the company, which says it had the cooperation of the government, through the Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade of Portugal (AICEP), and the city of Santa Maria da Feira.

“[This investment] represents another step towards the reindustrialization of our country and demonstrates the strong confidence in our national infrastructure and human capital, particularly in our highly qualified engineers and technicians in the aeronautical sector,” said Economy Minister Pedro Reis, cited in the same note.
