This is one of the guidelines of the “Laboratory Screening Program for SARS-CoV-2 in daycare centers and educational and teaching establishments” released today by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), Directorate-General for School Establishments (DGEstE) and Instituto of Social Security (ISS).
The resumption of school activities, suspended since the end of January, will need the performance of a rapid antigen tests to teachers and non-teachers of all levels of education - from kindergartens to secondary education - as well as to secondary school students.
After the first test, “a strategy of periodic screening will be adopted in municipalities with a cumulative incidence over 14 days of more than 120 / 100,000 inhabitants” through rapid antigen tests. Among the teachers and other employees, a new test will be carried out “14 days after the first test”, the following being carried out “with an initial periodicity of 28/28 days, adjusted for an interval between 7/7 to 14/14 days depending on the number of cases identified in the tests performed ”. Among secondary school students, there will also be an interval of 14 days between the first and the second test.
