The 41-year-old man was wanted by the French justice system, on suspicion of spearheading one of the largest drug trafficking networks operating in France.

The suspect was also wanted by Spain and had been missing since March.

French police suspected he had taken refuge in Dubai, and obtained the cooperation of local authorities to locate him.
