The alert for the air accident was given to firefighters at
12:45, said the District Command of Relief Operations (CDOS) of Évora.
The incident involved the "the skidding of an aircraft
on the runway of the airfield resulting in two injured people, who are being
evaluated".
Contacted by Lusa, Olímpio Galvão, mayor of Montemor-o-Novo,
the entity that owns the airfield, revealed that the two injured are "an
instructor and a student", who are "conscious and stable".
The accident occurred when "the cable that connected the
glider to the tug [plane] brke, shortly after take-off", which caused the
crash, said the mayor.
"The glider performed an emergency landing maneuver and
landed on land in front of the aerodrome", said the mayor.
