“This 2023 budget will be, for us, the opportunity to fulfill
an electoral promise that has to do with the granting of an exemption for
people under 35 years old who want to buy a house for up to €250,000”, said the
vice-mayor of Lisbon, Filipe Anacoreta Correia (CDS-PP), in the presentation of
the Lisbon municipal budget proposal for next year, which took place in the
City Hall.
Anacoreta Correia said that the measure allows young people
up to 35 years of age a maximum benefit of €8,322, granted as an exemption from
the Tax on Property Transfers (IMT), indicating that “about 35% of real estate
operations in Lisbon are carried out by those under 35 years old”, according to
data obtained after consulting financial institutions.
“And we had confirmation from the Tax Authority that, among
these operations, those that are transaction, of home acquisition, about 45%
have a value equal to or less than €250,000”, revealed the vice president.
