The vaccination task force stated that at the end of this week, 99% of teaching and non-teaching staff in Portuguese schools had been vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2.
Classes start between September 14 and 17, marking the beginning of another school year in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic and the second with strict sanitary rules to prevent contagion in schools, including the mandatory use of masks from the age of 10 and "strongly recommended" for the youngest, from the 1st cycle onwards.
Similar to what happened during the last school year, when schools reopened in April, screenings are also carried out before the start of classes, which will cover teachers and employees of all levels of education and students from the 3rd cycle.
All people in the groups covered will be tested, regardless of their vaccination status, at a time when teachers and non-teaching staff have full vaccination and 75% of young people from 12 years of age have already received the first dose.
