At maximum risk of fire are the municipalities of Resende, Castro Daire, Moimenta da Beira, Penedono, Lamego, Tarouca, Tabuaço, S. João da Madeira and Armamar (Viseu), Cabeceiras de Basto (Braga), Mogadouro (Bragança) and Oliveira of the Hospital (Coimbra).
The IPMA has also placed several municipalities in Faro, Santarém, Leiria, Portalegre, Castelo Branco, Guarda, Coimbra, Viseu, Aveiro, Porto, Braga, Viana do Castelo, Vila Real and Bragança at very high risk of fire.
The risk of fire will remain high in some regions of the continent until at least Monday.
This risk, determined by the IPMA, has five levels, ranging from reduced to maximum.
Calculations are obtained from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.
The IPMA forecasts for today a light cloud or clear sky on the continent, with periods of greater cloudiness along the coast until late morning, which may persist during the day in some parts of the western coastal strip.
During the afternoon, a temporary increase in cloud cover is expected in the interior North and Centre, with the possibility of showers and thunderstorms.
The forecast also points to light winds, blowing from the west quadrant during the afternoon and morning fog or fog on the west coast.
The minimum temperatures will fluctuate between 15 degrees Celsius (in Leiria) and 20 (in Portalegre) and the maximum between 21 (in Porto) and 34 (in Évora and Beja).
