The Algarve was the only region that showed positive variation in overnight stays in tourist accommodation during the month of October, mainly thanks to tourists residing in Portugal, which the National Statistics Institute (INE) attributes to the staging of the Portuguese Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Algarve International Racetrack in Portimão, at the end of last month. Figures from the INE indicate a 4% increase in overnight stays by residents in Portugal in the Algarve.
