According to the report on the epidemic curve by the National Institute of Health Doctor Ricardo Jorge (INSA) released today, the North region recorded an average of five days of Rt - which estimates the number of secondary cases of covid-19 resulting from an infected person - of 1.01.
The Centre moved from a Rt of 1.10 to 1.0, with Lisbon and Vale do Tejo having registered a slight reduction in this indicator from 0.94 to 0.93, according to INSA data.
The Alentejo and Madeira were the two regions that reduced the Rt to less than the threshold of 1, with the continental region falling from 1.02 to 0.98 and the autonomous region from 1.08 to 0.82.
According to the INSA report, in the Algarve this index is now fixed at 0.91, when last week it was 0.95, and the Azores register 0.71, the lowest among the various regions of the country.
“It appears that Portugal has an accumulated notification rate of 14 days between 240 and 479.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, with a decreasing trend. Cyprus, Greece, Iceland and Spain are in the same situation as Portugal”, adds INSA.
At a national level, Portugal had a five-day average of 1,905 infections, a reduction compared to the 2,175 daily cases registered in the previous week.
