Despite the existence of six active outbreaks of Covid-19 in Portuguese nursing homes, confirmed on 22 June by the Directorate-General of Health (DGS), Marta Temido guaranteed to be paying attention to the issue, but considered that the limitation of visits “to people living in nursing homes does not seem to need to be established at this time”.
"We are in a situation of epidemic in which vaccinated people who are eventually having cases of disease transmission have a much more moderate disease, much more controlled", justified Marta Temido, speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the opening of the new Family Health Unit of the Alta de Lisboa.
The outbreaks in nursing homes correspond to 54 cases, part of them already recovered, according to the DGS.
Confirmation of the outbreaks comes after news of the deaths of two elderly women in nursing homes last week.
