In a statement, the organisation defends the amendment of
article 38 of the Highway Code, “in order to allow the possibility of a motor
vehicle crossing a continuous line when there are safety conditions to overtake
a cyclist circulating in front of it at a slower pace”.
The Federation explains that the fact that this is currently
prohibited creates “potential conditions of pressure and conflict between motor
vehicle drivers and cyclists”.
Another measure involves matching the sign D7a - Compulsory
Track for Velocipedes - to the sign D6 - Via Reserved for Public Transport Vehicles,
with the Federation warning of the "risks" of "forcing an
experienced cyclist in training or a group of cyclists in the under the same
circumstances to cycle on cycle paths”.
