Also because of the rain, the IPMA has placed, as of this
afternoon, five other districts (Portalegre, Lisbon, Santarém, Évora, Leiria)
under a yellow warning, extending it from 00:00 on Thursday to the North and
Centre of the country, covering the districts of Braga, Coimbra, Aveiro,
Castelo Branco, Guarda, Vila Real, Porto, Viseu, and Bragança.
In addition to the rain, rough seas have also caused the
IPMA to place the districts of Faro, Setúbal, Lisbon, and Beja under a yellow
warning from 18:00 on Thursday.
Madeira (North Coast, South Coast, and Mountainous Regions)
is also today under a yellow warning due to wind and sea agitation, a warning
that extends to Porto Santo from 21:00 today (sea disturbance).
In the Azores archipelago, the islands of the Eastern Group
(Santa Maria and São Miguel) are also under a yellow warning because of the
wind from 12:00pm today until 00:00 am on Thursday. In the Central Group
(Terceira, Graciosa, São Jorge, Faial and Pico) the warning is due to rain and
is active until 18:00 today.
The National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection
(ANEPC) has issued a warning to the population for today and Thursday due to
the forecast of rain, strong wind, and sea turmoil in the centre and south.
There are also forecasts of "severe with thunderstorms and extreme phenomena in the central and southern regions", as well as "strong wind from Thursday afternoon onwards in the highlands and coastal strip of the central and southern regions, with gusts up to 80 km/h".
