ASAE carried out, in recent weeks, a nationwide inspection operation directed at the food retail chain, to verify the practice of illegitimate profit (speculation) in the sale of food and non-food goods.
“As a balance of the action, 270 economic operators were inspected, with 11 criminal proceedings being instituted, of which 10 for the practice of crimes of price speculation (anti-economic crime) of food goods, namely cereals, preserves, fruit, water, among others, with price variations reaching 30% in relation to the price posted and made available to the consumer and a crime of Usurpation of Protected Designation of Origin (DOP)”, said that authority, in a statement.
24 administrative offense proceedings were also instituted, with emphasis on the “practice of misleading commercial actions, disrespect for the rules for posting prices, disrespect for sales rules with price reductions, non-compliance with general and specific hygiene requirements, lack of information to the consumer in contracts concluded at a distance”, among others.
