Law 154/2022 of the Ministries of Economy and Sea and Health, published on June 2, comes into force on the first day of next year.

“In catering or drinking establishments, including those with rooms or spaces intended for dancing, places where smoking is allowed in areas intended for customers may be set up, provided that these establishments have an area for customers equal to or greater than 100 m2 and a minimum ceiling height of 3m”, it reads.

The ordinance also dictates rules regarding spaces intended for smokers, which "can be constituted up to a maximum of 20% of the area intended for customers".

These spaces must have a sign and have information posted on the door about the maximum capacity allowed with “no entry for persons under 18 years of age”.
