In a statement, the SEP indicated that the unavailability of
the CHUA board of directors to meet with the nurses was communicated on Tuesday
afternoon, “a few hours away from the most anticipated meeting in recent times”
and when “answers were required for the problems” of those health professionals.
For the union structure, this is “another setback in the
relationship of trust between management, nurses, and the SEP”.
"In this context, the nurses declare zero tolerance
and, despite the fact that the administration has appointed the next February
14th for the now postponed meeting to take place, the strike remains for
Wednesday", reads the note.
The stoppage will cover morning and afternoon shifts,
between 08:00 and 24:00, in hospitals in Faro, Portimão, and Lagos and in Basic
Emergency Services in Lagos, Albufeira, Loulé, and Vila Real de Santo António.
Nurses demand “justice” in the interpretation of the decree-law on the accounting of years of service for career progression and the consequent payment of retroactive payments.
