There are currently 267 people hospitalised with covid-19, 53 of them in intensive care units, where another person has been since Thursday, according to the epidemiological bulletin released today by the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

The number of active cases has increased by 130 to a total of 23,473 and health authorities have a further 232 contacts under surveillance for a total of 25,161 people.

The DGS declared 300 people recovered in the last 24 hours, with 810,959 cases having been recovered since the beginning of the pandemic.

In total, 851.46 people in Portugal were infected with SARS-CoV-2 and 17,029 died with covid-19.

The Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region registered more than half of the new confirmed cases (217) in the last 24 hours, totalling 322,431 cases and 7,214 deaths in total.

In the North region there are 132 more cases, totalling 341,109 infections and 5,356 deaths with covid-19.

In the Centre there are 20 more cases of infection with SARS-CoV-2, 120,029 in total and 3,023 deaths.

In the Alentejo, 16 more cases were reported, totalling 30,252 infections and 971 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

In the Algarve region, today's bulletin reveals that 11 new cases were registered, totalling 22,377 infections and 363 deaths.

The Autonomous Region of Madeira recorded eight new cases, totalling 9,743 infections and 69 deaths due to covid-19 since March 2020.

The Azores now have 26 new cases and account for 5,520 cases and 33 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the DGS.

The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira publish their data daily, which may not coincide with the information published in the DGS bulletin.

Of the total number of fatalities, 8,944 were men and 8,085 women.

The greatest number of deaths continues to be concentrated in the elderly over 80 years old, followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years old.
