The Directorate-General for Health (DGS) recalls that
respiratory tract infections are common in children and young people,
particularly in the autumn/winter months, and they are generally not serious.
The health authority advises, however, that they stay at
home if there is a fever, being able to return to school when they are
medically discharged, or stop having a fever and when they feel well enough to
attend.
The DGS insists that all children and young people with
symptoms of respiratory tract infection “should be taught to cover their mouth
and nose with a tissue when coughing and/or sneezing”, discarding the tissues
and washing or disinfecting their hands after.
Children and young people who live with a person who has
tested positive for Covid-19 must continue to go to school and follow basic
hygiene measures.
