According to José Carlos Silva, commander of the Public Safety Fire Brigade of Chaves, in the district of Vila Real, the victim had fallen into the well next to agricultural land and when the workers arrived at the place, he was already lifeless.

The alert was given around 9:50 am after the man was found by people, he explained.

In addition to workers of the Chaves' Public Salvation Fire Department, Chaves' Emergency and Reanimation Medical Vehicle (VMER) and an INEM ambulance were also on the site.

The Chaves GNR was called to the site and took care of the incident.
