The number of new cases of infection had not been this high since 6 March, when 1,007 infections were reported.

The Autonomous Region of Madeira has registered 12 new cases, totalling 9,801 cases and 69 deaths with Covid-19 since March 2020.
The Azores now has 28 new cases and accounts for 5,827 cases and 33 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

The new coronavirus has already infected at least 467,843 women and 390,796 men in Portugal, DGS data show, according to which there are 406 cases of unknown gender, which are under investigation as this information is not provided automatically.
Of the total number of fatalities, 8,954 were men and 8,095 were women.
The highest number of deaths continues to be concentrated in the elderly over 80 years old, followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years old.
