The National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection
(ANEPC) indicated that the municipality of Seixal, in the district of Setúbal,
registered 34 of these evacuees, with emphasis on the municipalities from
Coruche (Santarém) and Loures (Lisbon).
The previous assessment, made on Tuesday night, accounted
for 82 displaced people.
Since 00:00 on Tuesday, there have been 3,552 occurrences
related to bad weather, most of them in the Lisbon district (2,722), followed
by Setúbal, Portalegre, Santarém, and Coimbra.
Lisbon, Loures, Sintra, Oeiras, and Cascais are among the
most affected municipalities, as well as Arronches, Sousel, Campo Maior, and
Fronteira, in the district of Portalegre.
According to the national commander of ANEPC, André
Fernandes, in the total number of occurrences “seven interventions were
necessary with medical teams”, with four people being assisted on the spot and
the rest being slightly injured.
Currently, Loures and Odivelas concentrate most of the
rescue teams, said the commander, explaining that the reinforcement means
requested for the Lisbon district are still on the ground, namely the fire
brigades of Santarém, Leiria, and Viseu, but the Armed Forces have already
demobilised.
The "episode of intense precipitation" felt this
morning caused an "urban flood" in Setúbal, where "operations
are ongoing" and "there are no records of victims", he added.
According to André Fernandes, there are currently “five
active municipal emergency plans”, four in the Portalegre district and one in
Santarém, with the special emergency plans for the Tagus and Douro river basins
remaining in a state of yellow alert.
The intense and persistent rain that fell on Tuesday caused
flooding, tree falls, and road closures, especially in the districts
of Lisbon, Setúbal, and Portalegre.
All districts on the Portuguese mainland are today on a yellow warning regarding precipitation, until 18:00.
