“Following the Prime Minister's announcement, a working
group is being created with the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Administration”, said António Costa Silva,
adding that “at this time, there is no there is no decision” which has been
made.
The Minister of Economy and the Sea responded to questions
from the PSD, in a joint hearing of the parliamentary committees on Budget and
Finance and on Economy, Public Works, Planning and Housing, within the scope of
the analysis, in particular, of the proposed State Budget for 2023 (OE2023).
The Prime Minister said last week that the Government is
evaluating the continuity of the golden visa regime for obtaining a residence
permit in Portugal, admitting that its maintenance may no longer be justified.
The prime minister defended the continuity of the policy of
attracting investors in Portugal, especially in the technological area, but he
made a distinction in relation to the golden visa regime, in which a residence
permit is obtained in the country following, for example, the purchase of a
high value property.
