At the seminar “Active Mobility: Future in Security”, which
took place in Lisbon, organised by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the
National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), Minister José Luis Carneiro explained
that comparing the provisional figures for 2019 with those of 2022, there were
11,400 fewer accidents, 15 fewer deaths, 93 fewer serious injuries and 5,255
fewer minor injuries.
In 2019 there were 135,129 accidents that caused 474

The reference year for monitoring the targets set by the
European Commission and Portugal is 2019 since in 2020 and 2021 there were
significant drops in road traffic due to the pandemic.
Compared to 2021, last year there were 14,362 more disasters, 69 more deaths, 102 more serious injuries, and 3,730 more minor injuries.
