"TUI Netherlands, through its air operator TUI FLY, has today resumed air connections to the Azores. In question is a circular flight from Amsterdam to Terceira and with final destination Ponta Delgada, a connection that had been suspended in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic," announced the Azores Government in a press release on 14 July.
The operation will connect the Azorean archipelago to the Dutch market, one "of the relevant strategic markets for the Azores destination," notes the Azorean executive (PSD/CDS-PP/PPM).
The Dutch market had a total of 93,768 overnight stays in the Azores in 2019, and there was a 10.2 percent growth of Dutch tourists on the island of Terceira between 2014 and 2019.
"The operation starts on 14 July and runs until 29 September, 2021, always on Wednesdays, with a total of 12 flights, operated by a Boeing 737 and with an estimated total number of 1,800 seats," reads the statement.
The flight is expected to arrive on the island of Terceira at 4:05pm and on the island of São Miguel at 5:40pm.
