“Today we still have very cloudy skies in the northern and central regions and light rain, especially on the coast. As of Thursday, we have a forecast of generally clear skies and a tendency for a gradual rise in temperature, with high maximums expected on Friday and Saturday”, said meteorologist Paula Leitao from the Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera told Lusa (IPMA).
According to Paula Leitão, Friday will see the sharpest rise in temperatures, with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees in some regions.
“Due to this situation, we will have an increased risk of fire. We will also have some atmospheric dust coming from North Africa on Thursday and Friday, but nothing too serious”, she said.
According to the meteorologist, this situation is due to a mass of hot air coming from North Africa, which will cause an increase in temperatures.
“If this forecast is confirmed, temperatures will be well above normal values for the season. At this point they are already slightly above normal values. Today we have 24 degrees in Lisbon and 30 degrees for Friday and Saturday. In the interior we have 30 degrees in Évora and Beja today and Friday and Saturday this will exceed 35 degrees”, she said.
“After Sunday, the trend will be for a drop in temperature and even for thunderstorms and showers in the interior regions,” she said.
