Speaking to Correio da Manhã, the leader of the Chega party said that it was "the greatest censorship and persecution in modern Portugal", adding that he will "demand responsibility".

For Ventura, the suspension of Twitter “is about cutting communication channels to the leader of one of the biggest Portuguese political parties”.

In May Twitter blocked André Ventura's account temporarily, after writing that he wanted the Minister of Internal Affairs, Eduardo Cabrita, to be beheaded.

At the time, the social network considered that the leader of Chega had violated the rules “against abuse and harassment”, having applied a suspension of the account for 12 hours.
