32,000 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 so far in Portugal. Director-General for Health Graça Freitas said in a press conference that this does not mean the country can let its guard down as “not all people will be immunised” as the vaccine isn’t 100% effective and as yet there is no herd immunity. Addressing the situation in Portugal, Graça Freitas said there has been an apparent rise in cases which are occupying between 70% and 90% of hospitals’ admissions capacity.
It's one of the few times since living in Portugal that I wished I could get back to the UK.
I've been a big critic of the UK govt in their handling of the covid outbreak, but they are sure showing the rest of Europe how to roll out the vaccine.
As of today, the portugese govt have vaccinated 32,000 people, against over 4 million in the UK.
Is this all down to the UK leaving the EU?
Me thinks it's more them having the foresight to do two things.
Preorder vast quantities of vaccines IF it passed the mhra testing, and secondly, getting the army involved in coordination.
So, for once I take my hat off to Boris
( Still love it here though!!!)
