According to the joint epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health and the National Institute of Health Doctor Ricardo Jorge released today, at national level the incidence rate rose from 83.3 to 84.2.
In mainland Portugal, this indicator also increased from 83.2 to 84.4 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants
The Rt - which estimates the number of secondary cases of infection resulting from each person carrying the virus - rose again today in relation to the values recorded on Wednesday, going from 0.97 to 1 nationally and 0.97 in mainland Portugal, 98 to 1.
The Rt data and the incidence of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants within 14 days - indicators that make up the risk matrix for monitoring the pandemic - are updated by the health authorities on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
According to the Government portal for covid-19, "the monitoring of the evolution of the pandemic will continue to be carried out based on the indicators of incidence and Rt, adapted according to the evolution of vaccination (alert level is 240, level risk is 480)".

Here in Miami the news are raving that all eyes are on Portugal as the model to combat Covid with 98% vaccinations. So disappointing because you could have been a role model but "caved" to public pressure NOT to wear masks in restaurants & closed spaces. So disappointing, beautiful country, not harsh politics, no guns/mass shootings but misguided. Israeli scientists proved vaccines are at only 40% after 5 mos; YOU NEED BOOSTERS NOW and get used to the mask, so vain, what, rather look good before you get it; your immune system will never be the same to fight diseases. Maybe you are watching Fox News and reading unregulated Facebook lies (bots.) Read the science, it aint over, adult and accept to stay safe and be happy; it's here and may be for 10 years, ADAPT and reinstate masks indoors in all public places.
