Today, 809 people are hospitalised with Covid-19, 111 of which are in intensive care units, where seven more people have entered in the last 24 hours.

Most of the new cases (575) were diagnosed in the North area, followed by Lisbon and Tagus valley (490 cases) and the Centre area (284).

Of the 13 deaths, four occurred in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, one in the North region, two in the Algarve, two in the Centre region, three in the Autonomous Region of Madeira and one in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.

By age, one of the people who died with Covid-19 was between 50 and 59 years old, two between 60 and 69, two between 70 and 79 years old and eight were over 80 years old.

The greatest number of deaths continues to be concentrated among the elderly over 80 years old (12,011), followed by the age groups between 70 and 79 years old (3,956) and between 60 and 69 years old (1,681).

There are now 54,368 active Covid-19 cases (645 more than on Sunday) and 971 people have recovered, bringing the national total of people recovered to 1,071,544.

Compared to Sunday, health authorities have over 1,220 contacts under surveillance, totalling 61,850.

Of the new cases, 225 were diagnosed in children under 10 years old, 156 in young people between 10 and 19 years old, 189 in people between 20 and 29, 279 between 30 and 39 years old, 275 between 40 and 49 years old, 203 between 50 and 59 years old, 161 between 60 and 69 years old, 98 between 70 and 79 years old and 45 in people over 80 years old.

Since the beginning of the pandemic crisis, the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region has registered 439,437 cases and 7,825 deaths.

In the Northern region, there have been 430,736 infections and 5,644 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

The Central region now has a cumulative total of 158,945 infections and 3,249 deaths.

The Algarve has reported over 156 cases, accumulating 48,365 infections and 506 deaths, and there are another 37 new cases in the Alentejo, totalling 42,258 infections and 1,061 deaths since March 2020.

In the Autonomous Region of Madeira, in the last 24 hours, according to the DGS, 73 new cases, totalling 14,537 infections and 96 deaths, and the Azores 20 new cases, totalling 10,064 infections and 49 deaths.

The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira publish their data daily, which may not coincide with the information published in the DGS bulletin.

Among the 18,430 who have died with Covid-19 in Portugal since the start of the pandemic, 9,653 were men and 8,777 women.
