Azores Airlines, a subsidiary of the SATA Group, said that "the preparation of this regular air connection has already been taken care of for over a year by the airline, a process that was interrupted by the outbreak of the pandemic" of Covid-19.
Thus, from June 4 to October 28, 2022, Azores Airlines will make a regular connection on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturdays between New York and Ponta Delgada.
With regard to timetables, departures from Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel, "are scheduled for the end of the day, at 18:00, with arrival in New York at 19:55 local time", says the company.
As for the return flights to the Azores, "they leave New York at 21:20 and arrive in Ponta Delgada the following day, at 06:25".
SATA also reveals that reservations are already available and can be made through the airline (online or at any point of sale) or through travel agencies.
The Azorean airline indicates that "it has developed, in partnership with the Azorean operator InovTravel, a direct connection between New York and Funchal", in Madeira, "which will last until March 2022".
According to SATA, "this route has been relevant from a commercial point of view, from a destination point of view, but equally significant from a symbolic point of view, as it has united two Azorean partners around another project (the Grupo SATA and InovTravel) in the conquest of new markets for extraordinary Atlantic destinations, such as the archipelagos of the Azores and Madeira".
