The number of new infections registered in the last 24 hours is the highest since that date, when 13,200 cases were registered.
The daily epidemiological bulletin of the DGS also reveals a decrease in the number of people who are hospitalised, accounting today for 864 admissions, 29 less than on Thursday, of which 149 are in intensive care units, plus one in the last 24 hours.
Of the 11 deaths, six occurred in the North region, two in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, two in the Centre and one in Alentejo.
Lisbon and Vale do Tejo is also the region with the most new cases diagnosed in the last 24 hours, totalling 6,519, representing about half of the cases, followed by the North (3,796), the Centre (1527), Madeira (382) ), Algarve (330), Alentejo (316) and Azores (73).
According to data from the health authority, the majority of deaths were registered among the elderly over 80 years old, in a total of six, followed by the age group from 70 to 79, with three, and one death between 50 and 59 years old and another between 40 and 49 years old.
The greatest number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic continues to be concentrated among the elderly over 80 years old (12,241), followed by the age groups between 70 and 79 years old (4,075) and between 60 and 69 years (1730).
Active covid-19 cases increased in the past 24 hours to 91,947, 7,304 more than on Thursday, and 5,628 people recovered from the disease, bringing the national total recoveries to 1,155,239.
Compared to the previous day, health authorities have more than 6,043 contacts under surveillance, totalling 118,460 people.
The largest number of new cases diagnosed is in the age group between 20 and 29 years old (2,964), followed by 30 to 39 years old (2,275), 40 to 49 years old (2,250), 10 to 19 years old (1,728) 50 to 59 years old (1,528), up to 9 years old (971), from 60 to 69 years old (794), from 70 to 79 years old (288) and elderly people over 80 years old (145).
Since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo has registered 486,604 cases and 7,938 deaths.
In the North region there were 466,845 infections and 5,753 deaths and the Centre region now has a cumulative total of 182,059 infections and 3,335 deaths.
The Algarve has a total of 55,657 infections and 572 deaths and the Alentejo has 45,447 cases and 1,084 deaths due to covid-19.
Since the start of the pandemic, the Autonomous Region of Madeira has 18,390 infections and 118 deaths, and the Azores archipelago 11,035 cases and 50 deaths.
The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira publish their data daily, which may not coincide with the information published in the DGS bulletin.
In Portugal, since March 2020, 18,851 people have died, 9,895 among men and 8,956 among women.
