ACI Europe highlighted in a statement that between weeks 47 and 49 of 2021 (from 22 November to 12 December), passenger air traffic in Europe decreased by 20%, considering this decrease an “immediate and substantial” impact of the variant Omicron.
South Africa informed WHO of the appearance of the variant on 24 November.
The 20% reduction is a preliminary estimate based on data from 40 airports in 25 European countries, and includes both large airports and small regional airfields.
Has travel tapered off because of omicron, or because governments are overreacting and making travel extremely unappealing?
Hint: regardless of vaccination status, omicron is causing mild symptoms, few hospitalizations, and virtually no deaths.

It's not omicron, it's the fear porn politicians who can't stop.
