According to the DGS daily epidemiological bulletin, 1,300 people are hospitalised today, 100 fewer than on Wednesday, while 90 patients remain in intensive care units, although not all hospitalisations are due to Covid-19.
The number of active cases rose today to 474,019, 478 more than on Wednesday, and in the last 24 hours 11,726 people were reported to have recovered, for a total of 2,799,531 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The 1,300 patients admitted to the ward is the lowest number since January 5, when 1,251 people were hospitalised.
Of the 30 deaths, 11 took place in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, eight in the North, seven in the Centre, two in the Algarve, one in the Alentejo and one in the Azores.
By age group, 21 elderly people over 80 years old, seven people between 70 and 79 years old, one between 60 and 69 and another between 50 and 59 years old died.
Most of the new infections were diagnosed in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, with 4,293 infections, followed by the Centre, with 2,812 more, the North (2,128), the Alentejo (1,025), the Algarve (836), the Madeira (637) and the Azores (503).
Since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region has recorded 1,166,598 cases and 8,753 deaths.
In the North region, there were 1,235,070 infections and 6,474 deaths and the Central region now has an accumulated total of 498,438 infections and 3,759 deaths.
The Algarve has a total of 136,105 infections and 693 deaths and the Alentejo has 119,492 cases and 1,180 deaths from Covid-19.
The Autonomous Region of Madeira has had 80,044 infections and 188 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic and the Azores archipelago 58,944 cases and 94 deaths.
The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira publish their data daily, which may not coincide with the information disclosed in the DGS bulletin.
Since March 2020, 21,141 people have died from Covid-19, 11,120 men and 10,021 women.
