According to the latest update, SEF has accepted 4,626 requests for temporary protection since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, on February 24, until 1:00pm today.
On Wednesday, 4,310 requests had been registered.
The Portuguese Government grants temporary protection to people coming from Ukraine as a result of the war situation.
According to a resolution of the Council of Ministers, applicants for temporary protection are automatically granted a residence permit for one year, which can be extended twice for a period of six months.
These requests can be submitted to the national support centres for the integration of migrants and to the regional offices of SEF.
The Foreigners and Borders Service provides 24 service desks throughout the country exclusively dedicated to Ukrainian citizens.
SEF also has a structure at Lisbon Airport to register requests for temporary protection for Ukrainian citizens arriving in Portugal by air.
