Madeira has the two best beaches in Europe, according to a ranking by the European Best Destinations (EBD), an entity of the European Commission. The beaches of Porto Santo and Porto do Seixal are seen as “safe” and even the “volcanic sand” deserves to be highlighted.
The list of the 22 best beaches in Europe in 2022 has options for all tastes: golden sand, secluded, hidden or wild beaches, for romantic getaways or family adventures, for water sports, etc. The vote was taken by thousands of travellers from 82 countries, with 16% of voters from the United States. They are “refuges of pure nature that offer dream beaches to disconnect from a worrying world and connect with yourself”, states the EBD, on its website.
Madeira “ideal”
“A safe and sunny destination”, which combines “nature, well-being, outdoor sports, gastronomy and golf”, “easily accessible from European airports” and with direct flights to New York. “The islands of Madeira are the “ideal” destination “to recharge your batteries”, says the EBD. The list is headed by Porto Santo beach, on the island of the same name, in the Madeira archipelago.
“Much less crowded than the Canary Islands, the island of Madeira offers authentic tourism, 100% nature and top-notch hotel infrastructure. To avoid the crowds and connect with nature, it's a great choice this summer.”
The second best beach in Europe is found in Spain. We are talking about Bolonia Beach, in Cádiz. “For those who like tranquillity and want to discover wild and deserted beaches”, Bolonia beach is ideal.
Madeira also has the third best beach in Europe, on the island of Funchal. Praia do Porto do Seixal is highlighted by the EBD for the “beauty of the volcanic sand, the crystalline waters and the incredible cliffs”. “It is one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe”, it can be read. A few minutes from Porto Moniz, this “incredibly Instagrammable” beach has accommodation “overlooking the sea and cliffs with direct access to the beach”.
What a load of rubbish.
