From May 2, 2022, the LH 1789 will leave Porto at 06:10am, heading to the Bavarian capital, with an expected arrival in Munich at 10:05am local time.
According to the German airline, “Passengers from Porto will thus have greater flexibility and will be able to reach almost all connecting flights in Munich, thanks to the early morning arrival time”.
Destinations in Eastern Europe and long haul destinations (such as Tel Aviv, Cairo, Rio de Janeiro and Mumbai as well as Miami, Denver and Los Angeles in the USA) can be reached with Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners with a single transfer in Munich.
The return flight from the German hub to Porto is scheduled for the end of the night, departing Munich at 9:30pm and arriving in Porto at 11:25pm.
This new flight doubles the capacity of the Porto-Munich connection, benefiting not only passengers on a business trip, but also the tourism sector in Porto and northern Portugal. This flight will be operated with a Lufthansa Airbus A320, with a total capacity of 162 passengers per flight in Economy and Business Class.
“This additional frequency reflects Lufthansa's ongoing commitment to Portugal”, says Thomas Ahlers, General Director of Sales for the Lufthansa Group for Portugal. “And if we look at the growth of the Lufthansa Group from Porto as a whole, that is, in addition to Lufthansa, SWISS, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings, we are offering a third more flights than in 2019.”
According to the airline, “Portugal plays an important role for the Lufthansa Group”, highlighting the fact that the offer has been “continuously increased in recent years”, with the summer flight schedule to Portugal totalling 253 connections weekly from five Portuguese airports (Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Funchal and Ponta Delgada).
