According to a survey by Headquarters, of the 300 emigrants
and Portuguese descendants covered by this survey, 61% said they trusted the
electoral process, as it is organised today, "under the law, for
Portuguese residents abroad", against 40% who responded that they did not
trust it.
Furthermore, "90.4% of respondents are in favour of
electronic voting", because of the difficulty of voting in the Portuguese
Communities, distance from polling stations, postal ballots that do not arrive,
or arrive after the deadline, states the survey report, promoted by Sedes -
Association for Economic and Social Development.
The remaining respondents said they had doubts about
electronic voting, for security reasons, fears of fraud and that it is
difficult to audit.
