Jami is a crystal shop run by a sweet couple called João AMetista and Ida (hence Jami). They write into The Portugal News every month and slowly but surely ease us into the world of crystals - giving us one sparkly stone to reflect on at a time.

Their shop, located in downtown Faro, is usually full of all kinds of wonderful gemstones. However, having recently had a little baby girl called Luz (‘Light’ in Portuguese) they decided to shut the shop for a few months to get to grips with being new parents - but also to create more space to come back with even more crystals.

Malachite

Malachite is a very special crystal as it is used for healing purposes. Indeed, they say that when you don't know which crystal to use, use Malachite.

It is a copper ore and is used in the electronics industries and the globular or striped green patterns inspire hope.

Where is it found?

In Portugal, we can find small quantities.

The main extractions take place in Nizhny Tagil in the Ural Mountains of Russia, in Chessy, near Lyon in France, Shaba in the Republic of Congo as well as in China and Morocco. In these last two countries, they are often found associated with Azurite, giving rise to the so-called Azurmalachite. In other locations they may be associated with Chrysocolla, forming Malacola.

The Benefits

In energetic and therapeutic terms, it helps to restore health in general.

Together with Chrysocolla and Moonstone, it is very effective in preventing and helping to treat any type of cancer.

It helps relieve all kinds of pain but particularly with recovery from diseases and surgeries.

How to use

We can put it on the place of pain or on the heart for about 15 minutes a day or carry it around with us daily for an illness.

Precautions

However, when carried with us or placed on the body, it should be polished - as you should avoid breathing in its dust, as it’s toxic.

If it causes slight heart palpitations, remove and replace with Rose Quartz or Rhodonite.

Benefits for animals

In animals and plants, it promotes healing in the same way, both in relieving pain and in preventing and recovering from diseases.

In addition, it helps to stimulate the relationship with the caregiver and other animals.

The proof is in the healing

Whenever we get sick or need to activate healing, Malachite is always our first choice.

The two cases in which we noticed that it helped the most was in the recovery of our bunny rabbit Sara, who contracted a bacterial disease as a baby and was close to not surviving - she is now 4 and a half years old and is super healthy.

Another situation was with Ida’s father. He was hospitalized for more than 3 months due to diabetes and arteriosclerosis. He suffered the amputation of two toes, and had a bad prognosis.

He always took his crystals with him, among them Malachite, and today, after 3 years, we can't believe that those months have passed, because he lives a normal and healthy life.

Safe travels

Another of the properties is protection against road accidents, which is why we recommend a crystal to be used in the car together with black tourmaline (a negative energy protection crystal) and blue lace agate (that helps to maintain the driver's concentration and focus).
