Lidl Portugal has €200 million available to invest in the
country this year, said the CEO of the German chain, Alexander Frech, in an
interview with Jornal de Negócios. That's 20 million euros more than last year,
and more workers are also expected to be hired.
“We want to continue to invest in the country, from north to
south, in order to continue to gain proximity to the Portuguese and bring them
the highest quality at the best price. In this way, in 2022, we will invest
around 200 million euros in the country”, said Alexander Frech, detailing that,
of this amount, “125 million will be allocated to intervention” in stores,
including “remodelling, modernisation and new openings”.
The CEO of Lidl Portugal also added that they intend to
create around 120 new jobs, a number that excludes in-store recruitment.
