The research found that there are 182 elderly people for every 100 young people in Portugal.
The
data from Pordata and published in newspaper Público yesterday states that,
between 2015 and 2020, Portugal registered “an average annual growth rate of
the aging index” of 3.6 percent — the fastest among European countries,
overtaking Italy, which was Europe’s most aged country in 2020.
Old, aging, primitive, backwards in every way. That's how the governments like it. Any young person with half a brain must leave to find work and life elsewhere.

We emigrated from the UK to Central PT in 2014...My 36 year old , blonde wife, was considered to be "a witch" in the traditional sense by the elders of the nearby villages.....How is it possible in this millennium that such 'beliefs' still exist in a modern ( ? ) European country ?...No wonder the country struggles to move forward economically when it's only the elders left and the younger (speak English) population leave for greater salaries and less taxes, which, in turn, leaves the PT government short of cash and therefore left with no option but to maintain high taxes from those that are left.....(with their gold under their mattresses)...Old values vs education. The result is plain for all to see.
