On 5 September, "were delivered the first doses - about 150 thousand - of the Comirnaty adapted vaccine. Today, 6 September, about 500 thousand doses of the same vaccine arrived", announced the National Medicines Authority (Infarmed).
According to the national regulator, on 9 September the first 110,000 doses of the Spikevax vaccine, from Moderna pharmaceutical company, will arrive, also adapted to the Ómicron variant of the coronavirus that causes covid-19.
These two vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna received the 'green light' from the European Medicines Agency (EMA) on 1 September and can be given to people over 12 years of age to boost immunisation against SARS-CoV-2.
The following day, the General Directorate of Health (DGS) and Infarmed announced that these new vaccines, composed of the original strain of the virus and the Ómicron variant, will be used in the vaccination campaign that will run from Wednesday until December at the same time as the flu vaccination.
The autumn-winter seasonal vaccination campaign 2022-2023, which aims to protect the most vulnerable groups, expects to vaccinate about three million people in a hundred days, which requires 397 vaccination points throughout the mainland.
