Moderated by the cultural communicator Namalimba Coelho, the
"Fast Talks" will discuss "the balance between proficiency in
digital innovation and concrete applicability in the Fashion System, until its
use becomes natural and recurrent" and "the contemporary
challenges" of the fashion industry. The "Fast Talks" are of
free entrance, but prior registration is required.
ModaLisboa will also host the project "Beauty has no
age", by Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa "which aims to
deconstruct social representations, stereotypes and discrimination about
ageing". The presentations of the collections will take place between
Friday and Sunday.
On Friday, the proposals of the ten participants of Sangue
Novo (Cal Pfungst, Daria Fesenko, Eduardo Moreira, Flourish Society, Inês
Barreto, Maltesa, Maria do Carmo Studio, Molly98, Niuka Oliveira, Veehana) will
parade. This is a competition for finalists of higher education Fashion Design
courses from national and international schools and young designers at the
beginning of their careers.
"Sangue Novo is a priority platform for us because we
are dealing with a generation whose idea of the future is very small. It is
very difficult to design the future right now. For these younger generation,
support and backing, the notion that they are not alone is absolutely crucial.
Therefore, Sangue Novo, WorkStation and Lab are very important because they are
platforms of support for these generations", said the director of
ModaLisboa, Eduarda Abbondanza, in statements to Lusa.
Under WorkStation, Arndes, Fora de Jogo and Maria Clara will
present collections on Friday, and under Lab, Carolina Machado (Friday), Filipe
Augusto (Saturday) and João Magalhães (Sunday).
On Friday, the calendar also includes Miguel Flor's show,
from the creator's archives, whose last presentation at ModaLisboa was twenty
years ago, ten years after he graduated in fashion design. It will be a
"celebration and an opportunity to put back into circulation, at a time
when there is so much talk about circularity, a work that has existed for
years".
On Saturday, in addition to Filipe Augusto's proposals, the
collections of Luís Buchinho, Buzina, Kolovrat, Carlos Gil, Ricardo Andrez,
Luís Carvalho and Call Me Gorgeous by Luís Borges will also be revealed.
For Sunday, besides João Magalhães, there will be shows by
Nuno Gama, Duarte, Ivan Hunga Garcia, Valentim Quaresma, Salsa Jeans X Luís
Carvalho, Nuno Baltazar, Dino Alves and Gonçalo Peixoto.
In this edition the presentations will all happen
exclusively in face-to-face mode, but will be broadcast in streaming.
Although the shows are accessible only by invitation, there
is a parallel programming accessible to the general public, which includes,
besides the Fast Talks, exhibitions, performances and a pop-up store of
Portuguese designers. The exhibitions, performances and the pop-up store can be
visited between Friday and Sunday.
