According to the European Central Bank, each euro area
country can issue two €2 commemorative coins per year. Most commemorate the
anniversary of historical events or mark current events of historical
significance.
The most valuable of the €2 coins is worth over €4,500, and
marks the 25th anniversary of the death of Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco,
issued in 2007.
But there are more two-euro coins valued at up to 50 times
their value.
Another example is the €2 coin commemorating the 800th
anniversary of the first castle on the rocks of Monaco, issued in 2015, with
10,000 minted, which is now be worth more than €4,000.
A €2 coin commemorating World Youth Day, Cologne 2005, is worth
more than €200.
Less valuable, but still very desirable for collectors, is the
coin commemorating the 60th anniversary of Finland's 2008 Universal Declaration
of Human Rights, which is worth around €14.
