The president and vice-president of the Chamber of
Montalegre were arrested today by the PJ for crimes of criminal association,
prevarication, undue receipt of advantage, falsification of documents and abuse
of power.

The president, Orlando Alves, and the vice-president, David
Teixeira, and an employee of the Chamber of Montalegre were detained as part of
the “Alquimia” operation, triggered by the Northern Directorate of theJudiciary Police (PJ).
The Judiciary explained that the investigation deals with a
case involving up to €20 million.
